Construction Industry Scheme
CIS Returns and Refunds
Monthly CIS returns done right, and we check whether you're owed money back.
Subcontractors and contractors
What's involved
The Construction Industry Scheme is how HMRC collects tax in construction. If you're a subcontractor, tax is taken off your pay before you see it. If you're a contractor, you have to take it off and send it in. We handle both sides, every month.
For subcontractors, we register you with HMRC, keep your deduction statements in order and work out at the end of the year whether too much tax was taken. If it was, we claim it back for you.
For contractors, we verify every subcontractor with HMRC, work out the right deduction, file the monthly return by the 19th and send you the statements to pass on. If you have nothing to report, we file a nil return so you don't pick up a penalty.
If your business is in good shape we'll also look at gross payment status, which means you get paid in full with no tax taken off at source.
